North Sea Air ("we", "us", "our") is a film and image studio. This policy explains what we do with your personal information when you visit northseaair.com or get in touch, and the rights you have over it.
Who is responsible
North Sea Air is responsible for the personal information described here.
You can reach us about anything in this policy at info@northseaair.com, or by post at 67 West St., Suite 338, Brooklyn, NY 11222.
The short version
We collect very little. This website sets no cookies and carries no advertising or social media trackers. Our visitor analytics counts visits without cookies and without identifying you. We do not build profiles of visitors, we do not sell or share your information, and no decisions are made about you automatically.
The only personal information we ask for is what you type into our contact form.
What we collect and why
If you send us an inquiry
Our contact form asks for your name, email address and message, and optionally your location, the reason for getting in touch and a budget range.
We use this only to read and reply to you, and to keep a record of our correspondence.
Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: replying to someone who has approached us about work. If an inquiry turns into a project, we also rely on taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
We keep inquiries for one year after we last speak, then delete them. If an inquiry becomes a project, we keep the records for as long as that project and our accounting obligations require.
Please do not send us sensitive information through the form, such as health, ethnicity, political or religious beliefs, sexual orientation, or criminal record details. We do not ask for it and we do not need it.
If you just look at the site
- Your IP address and basic request details are processed by our hosting provider to send you the page and keep the site secure. This is ordinary server operation.
- Anti-spam. The contact form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which reads signals from your browser to tell a person from a bot. It does not track you across other websites.
- Rate limiting. To stop the form being flooded, we briefly count submissions against your IP address. That record is automatically deleted after ten minutes.
Our lawful basis for all of the above is legitimate interests: running and protecting our own website.
Visitor numbers. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read. It does not use cookies, does not fingerprint your device and does not follow you to other websites. We see totals, not individuals.
What is stored in your browser
We do not use cookies. We store three small technical values on your own device, which never reach us and are not used to identify you: a note that the opening animation has already played, a timestamp used to recover from a rare display fault, and an estimate of your connection speed so video starts at a sensible quality. The first two are cleared when you close the tab.
Who else handles your information
Each of these acts on our instructions under a written agreement.
- Cloudflare hosts the site, stores our media and converts our video files into web formats, provides the anti-spam check and counts visits. Worldwide, including the UK, EU and US.
- Sanity is the system we use to manage the site’s content and images. EU and US.
- Resend delivers your inquiry to our inbox as an email. US.
- Open-Meteo (OpenMeteo GmbH) supplies the local weather shown beside our office locations in the footer. Your browser requests this directly, so Open-Meteo receives your IP address. It sets no cookies and deletes its logs after 90 days. Switzerland.
Inquiries are read only by us.
We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for advertising.
Sending information abroad
We work between the United Kingdom, the United States and Canada, and some of the providers above are based in the United States. Where information leaves the UK or the European Economic Area for the United States, that transfer is covered by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. Ask us and we will tell you which applies.
Open-Meteo is based in Switzerland, which the UK and the European Commission have both formally recognized as providing an adequate level of data protection, so no additional safeguard is required for it.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or the European Economic Area you have the right to ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you
- correct it if it is wrong
- delete it, where the law allows
- stop or limit how we use it, including objecting to our legitimate interests
- send it to you in a portable format
Email info@northseaair.com and we will respond within one month, free of charge.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or to the data protection authority in your own country. We would rather you told us first so we can put it right.
If you are in Canada you have similar rights of access and correction under PIPEDA and can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. If you are in California, you have rights to know, delete and correct your information. We do not sell or share personal information as California law defines those terms.
Keeping it safe
The site runs over a secure connection, our content and media systems are access controlled, and our access credentials are rotated. No system is perfect, but we deliberately keep the number of places your information can sit very small, which is the best protection we can offer.
Children
This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you think a child has sent us something, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes
If we change how we handle personal information we will update this page and change the date at the top.
